What Is Composition Culture? What Is Composition Culture?

Composition Culture is a writing across the curriculum and a writing within the disciplines initiative to help students become more proficient writers by teaching faculty members ways of assisting them.

This initiative came about after members of the Emmanuel College community—faculty, staff, students, board members, and alumni—were asked how Emmanuel could better prepare students for scholarship, careers, and life. Overwhelmingly, these constituents agreed that improving student writing would be the best way to attain these goals.

Composition Culture will involve the training of faculty in two groups during the school years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. During the year in which faculty members are Writing Fellows, they will be involved in intensive training in writing theory and practice.
